A founding-era mandal from 1892 whose immersive walk-through dekhavas — caves, underwater cities, live historical dramas — are events in themselves.
Story
Shanipar Mandal Trust dates to 1892, the first year of public Ganeshotsav, and takes its name from the Shani temple chowk in Sadashiv Peth. In a city-first civic gesture, the mandal moved its pandal off the congested chowk to a school ground nearby — and used the space to build Pune’s most ambitious walk-through displays. Artists and sculptors from across Maharashtra create themed worlds — cave sequences, an eco-friendly underwater Dwarka — and live jivant dekhava dramas from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are staged some years.

Visit
Queues for the walk-through can be long in the evening — mornings are far quicker. A small entry fee is charged some years.
The idol darshan comes at the end of the themed walk-through.
